T-Scan Occlusal Analysis

At McCreight Progressive Dentistry we always pride ourselves on being on the forefront of the best technology to delivery the highest quality dentistry in the country. Which is why we are very proud to have incorporated the T-Scan Occlusal Analysis into our practice in 2016 in allows both Dr’s Jim and Wendy McCreight to accurately measure occlusal timing and force.

Dental occlusion refers to the way your teeth meet together when you bite. Ideally when you bite down your teeth should come in contact at the same time and with equal force. However, that is not always the case and in the past dental occlusion was largely a guessing game. Articulating paper and waxes were the only tools for Dentist to assess and balance the force of occlusion neither of which could simultaneously measure both.

Having an occlusion that is not in the proper place can result in; headaches, jaw pain, sensitive teeth and neck and back pain. Also if you have had any restorations done the T-Scan Occlusal Analysis allows us to effectively reduce the risk of; Implant failure, Porcelain failure, Fractured teeth, and gum recession.

With a simple occlusal exam done with the T-Scan Occlusal Analysis we are able to gather information in a painless very easy way. This computerized information allows us to restore the perfect balance of your bite. By simply biting on a disposable, extremely thin, flexible sensor the software displays the timing of contacts and levels of force in a dynamic movie. The sensor allows us to show you in real time your bite from the beginning to the end and all that is happening in between. In 5 minutes we can immediately visualize problem areas that may have been missed with the use of articulating paper and waxes.
